My Paper Flow Chart

Day 1

I have spent my entire life in these woods. They are my home and lately I have been getting nervous. I have been hearing that other trees very similar to myself have been cut down and being sent to factories to become paper. I have never heard of paper but I guess eventually I will be that too. I better go, the sounds of the machines cutting down my fellow trees are getting closer.

Day 3

I was right. The people did cut me down. They loaded me onto a huge truck with a bunch of my other tree friends and we are now moving to somewhere. I do not know where but we are all nervous.

Day 5

We have finally arrived. It felt like it took forever. Rumor is going around that this is called a paper mill. To me it sounds scary because I am not sure what they will be doing here. They fed me into a machine that will be breaking me down from a large tree to smaller boards. After that, they put me into a machine that creates pulp by breaking down cellulose fibers inside of me. I guess this is what will make me paper. So far it hasn't been too painful.

Day 6

Today they put me into huge piles with others that look just like me. I hear the people saying that we will be shipped out to schools, businesses, and stores where people will write on us. Im not too sure what that is about but I will eventually find out.

Day 8

Someone finally bought me yesterday. I was kind of happy because I was getting bored of sitting on the shelf of the store.
I am confused. Someone bought me and then wrote on me and now I am sitting in something called a recycling bin. I guess they did not need me anymore. There is a few other pieces of paper in here too and we are all just very scared of what will happen to us next.

Day 10

Today I have arrived at yet another factory. I have heard around that we will be de-inked? It doesn't sound good but I hope we will be fine.
After being de-inked, we were sent off to a machine that moved a lot of paper up and then into a bin that re-pulped us yet again. Then, we were moved to a screening machine to make sure no other materials got mixed in with us.
As we got processed again into packages to be shipped out, I realized that as long as I am paper, this cycle will keep happening. I better get used to it now!
